The Rodeo Beatniks are a trio of troubadours formed as an “unplugged” act, performing locally for nearly twelve years. They have produced 2 CDs of original material, selections of which still receive airplay on Philadelphia’s premier alternative radio station, WXPN. Beyond their dozens of original songs they have amassed a repertoire of over 100 cover songs, performing a broad range of personal favorites that draw from many diverse genres. Over the past 50 years some great classic songs have been composed and covered by countless bar bands. The Beatniks uncover great tunes that have not been beaten to death and have blended their own scaled-down arrangements, which reflect their personal interpretations of the songs. Performing without a drummer, the Beatniks are not a dance band. Rather they offer up of what could be termed “neo-lounge act.”
